HISTORY OF TROOP 361 Originally chartered in 1955, under the Sponsorship of Evergreen Baptist Church, located in Boyle Heights District of East Los Angeles. When Troop 361 was founded, it became a part of the Los Angeles Area Council (LAAC). When the church moved to the city of Rosemead, the Troop came under the jurisdiction of the San Gabriel Valley Council (SGVC). Recently in 2015, LAAC and SGVC merged to form the Greater Los Angeles Area Council (GLAAC). During the 60 plus years of existence, Troop 361 has had the honor to add 130 Scouts to their Eagle roster. The Troop continues to conduct a "Boy Led" program striving for the goals and aims of the BSA. The Scout organization encourages boys to participate in vigorous outdoor activities. Camping is a regular part of the scout program, which also includes conservation, forestry, and aid to community service. In line with these principals our early activities began in local areas and over the years gradually spread out to more distant sites. Troop 361 has continued the program of offering all that the scouting program encompasses, including all kinds of outdoor activities. Some of the activities included: Camp Pepperdine, Lake Arrowhead - Los Angeles Area Council Circle X at Camp Big Horn, Lake Arrowhead - Los Angeles Area Council Camp Whitsett, Sequoia National Forest - Western LA County Council Camp Lost Valley, Cleveland National Forest - Orange County Council Camp Mataguay, Cleveland National Forest - Desert Pacific Council Camp Cherry Valley, Catalina Island - San Gabriel Valley Council Camp Emerald Bay, Catalina Island - Western LA County Council Camp Holcomb Valley, Big Bear Lake - Old Baldy Council Camp Chawanakee, Shaver Lake - Southern Sierra Council Camp Fiesta Island, San Diego - San Diego Council Camp Taquitz, Angeles Oaks - Long Beach Area Council 13th Nippon Jamboree -Maishima Sports Island, Osaka, Japan 14th Nippon Jamboree - Suzu City, Japan 15th Nippon Jamboree - Shizuoka, Japan 16th Nippon Jamboree - Yamaguchi City, Japan Invitation Field Day with other Asian troops invarious parts of Southern California numberous District Camporees and Council Scoutorees Scout Expos at Santa Anita Racetrack and Rose Bowl
